Through personalized therapeutic yoga practices, I help you build resilience and empower you to realize the natural capacity of your own body and mind for healing and optimal wellness.
ABOUT ME
I was a graduate student, grieving the loss of mother to cancer, and searching for peace until I found yoga. That first yoga class brought a sense of peace I had never experienced before, and I was immediately hooked. Through years of consistent practice and study, I discovered the power of yoga for healing, clarity, and growth. Over time, my yoga practice allowed me to transform my grief into something new—a loving remembrance of my mother, and finally, acceptance and peace. What began as a personal practice grew into a calling—to share these tools with others and help them navigate life’s challenges with compassion, strength, and resilience.
I’ve worked for over 25 years as a scientist in wildlife ecology, and along the way, yoga became my second passion and path to purpose. I started teaching yoga in 2007, and after 10 years of teaching, I enrolled in an 800-hour Yoga Therapy Certification through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy. I studied with world-renowned experts in yoga therapy and learned evidence-based approaches for a variety of health conditions such as cancer, chronic pain, mental health, grief and loss, addiction, and neurological disorders. My training transformed my daily yoga practice into a sacred ritual of tuning in to my body, heart, mind, and spirit, meeting myself where I am each day.
At Birdsong Yoga Therapy, every session is personalized and compassionate. I integrate posture, breath, mindfulness, meditation, and deep relaxation to help clients navigate life’s challenges and take an active role in their wellness. I draw from personal experience when I work with my clients and apply the tools of yoga to address each individual’s present condition and health concerns.
I believe in the power of yoga for healing and restoring our innate sense of wholeness. I guide clients through grief, pain, or uncertainty—helping them reconnect with body, mind, and spirit to live fully and with purpose.

Yoga Therapy is a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to health and wellness that adapts yogic principles and practices to the needs of each individual. This approach is unique because it considers the person as a whole and addresses all aspects of life, rather than looking only at individual body parts or symptoms. Modern science is only beginning to uncover the
therapeutic potential of yoga, largely because of its capacity to reduce stress and regulate the
nervous system.
A Yoga Therapist assesses each individual and develops a treatment plan to address specific health concerns and goals. The process involves intake, detailed client assessment, goal-setting, and development of a therapeutic relationship. Yoga Therapy is intended to empower the individual to take an active role in their health and wellness to ease suffering and promote healing.
Yoga therapy has wide applications, offering relief and support for a variety of health concerns and life challenges, such as:
Addiction
Anxiety and depression
Autoimmune diseases
Cancer
Chronic pain
Grief and loss
Injury recovery
Parkinson’s Disease
PTSD
Stroke
Traumatic brain injury
